Be Serenaded By A Mariachi Band In Mexico

Mariachi is a type of folk music in Mexico. A Mariachi Band usually consists of string instruments, and men dressed up in large sombreros (hats), and suits.

While having margaritas and fresh lobsters in Puerto Nuevo, Mexico, a mariachi band approached us (minus the huge sombreros).  They asked if they could sing to my friend since it was her bachelorette party.  The Mariachi band serenaded us for a few songs, and they weren't annoying like they are sometimes portrayed in movies.  They played a few upbeat songs along with some soft, gentle songs perfect for serenading. 

Plus, how many mariachi members have thrown you a peace sign while serenading you?

Drink Margaritas In Mexico

As we walked down the streets of Puerto Nuevo, we heard a man down the street screaming, "Free Margaritas!!!"  My ears always love hearing the word free.  My friends and I got sucked into the tourist trap and headed upstairs to have our own little margarita and lobster party.  It was a great way to start the weekend with new and old friends.

Eat Fresh Lobster

Puerto Nuevo, Mexico, is a small fishing village located off the coast of Baja.  Puerto Nuevo is known for its fresh lobster.  As we walked along the street almost every place advertised lobster as their specialty.  We entered the first place that offered lobster PLUS free margaritas.

We each ordered lobster, and it was ridiculously cheap.   I don't think we spent more than $10 per person for our entire meal.

The lobsters were fresh and delicious, and exactly what we needed to start our fabulous weekend in Mexico.  Lobster season in Puerto Nuevo is from October to March, so we visited just in time to get them fresh at their peak!
