Complete A Painting On Canvas

Growing up I loved watching Bob Ross from Joy Of Painting with my siblings.  It was thrilling for us.

"Oh my god...he's not gonna finish the painting!!  There is only 5 minutes left!  Hurry Bob, Hurry!"

"NOOO!  He ruined the painting.  There is no way he is going to salvage this one!"

But he always did finish, and he always did save the painting when we thought their was no hope left.  I always wanted to be like Bob Ross (minus the fro), and have always had a love for the Arts.  I took art classes all throughout High School (it was a good break from all my honors classes), and then I just stopped.  Cold Turkey.  These days I express art through my photography, but when a Groupon popped up for a painting class I knew I had to buy it.   I had always wanted to paint on canvas like my dear old TV pal.

The class was a 2 1/2 hour class with two other newbie students like myself.  We were instructed to bring a photo of something we wanted to replicate. Since it was my first time I went on Pinterest and found something that seemed relatively straightforward, and one I could easily complete in a short time frame.  Our instructor was awesome, and helped us mix our acrylic paints, helped us with our brush strokes, and gave us tips on how to make the best out of our paintings.

I think I did a fairly decent job considering it was my first time playing with acrylic paints.  This is the first of many paintings, in fact, I found a deal for canvases and have five lined up waiting to be painted on. Perhaps, one day I'll improve my skills enough to have the courage to create "happy little trees" in 30 minutes like Bob Ross.  ;)

Go To Color-Me-Mine

 

Color-Me-Mine is a pottery studio located in various countries around the World.   Inside the studio are several shelves filled with an assortment of unfinished ceramic pottery choices ranging from mugs, bowls, tea pots, and small figurines.  

Once you've picked out your piece you are free to use their infinite choices of paint.  After painting your piece, you hand it to the one of the Color-Me-Mine employees who will put it on a shelf to dry.  You go home, and after a few days you pick up your final product after it has been glazed. 

I took my two cousins to the location in Pasadena and we had such a great time.  I decided to get a kitchen trivet so I had free rein when it came to creativity, and it would be something I could use regularly.  My cousins on the otherhand chose a ceramic butterfly and car to decorate their rooms. 

My uncle picked up our pieces a few weeks later, and thankfully the colors were more saturated and rich in our final product.  This was definitely an enjoyable thing to do with young'ins and a fun creative treat.
