The Carnival Inspiration is an older ship exploding with tacky neon colors and 90's artwork. I rightfully named it The Booze Cruise. It was like a giant frat party, including passed out people in the middle of walkways, Bachelorette Parties, and college folks enjoying their summer vacations. The clubs, and bars were always booming with people.
Besides a moment that I wrongfully self-diagnosed myself with acute appendicitis (the woes of being in the medical field), the short 4 day and 3 night cruise was filled with laughs, ridiculous dance moves, and enough food to feed a small country in Africa for a year. Oh, and those adorable towel animals! I really need to learn how to make a few.
Our only port stop was in Ensenada, Mexico. Mexico has gotten a lot of heat the past few years, and in fact my friends didn't even want to go into Ensenada. Apparently a lot of my friends are also horrible at geography when the following conversation emerged as we left the ship...
Chris: Yay, now I can knock Central America off my list!
Me: Chris....Mexico is not in Central America! It's in North America!
Karna: No! Mexico is part of South America!
I wish they were kidding. Chris is even a teacher! Geography has never been a strong subject for Americans.
I told my friends that I would go into Ensenada on my own if they didn't want to go. I wasn't scared. I think fear is what keeps a lot of people away from some pretty awesome places. I don't think they took me seriously up until I was walking out the security boundaries.
I must have taken them out of their comfort zone because when I turned around they were all following me out. We took a shuttle into town that cost us $1USD each. We went straight to a taco food truck for some fresh tacos, and headed into town to do some shopping. The biggest ploy that locals used to get us into their shops was offering us free tequila shots. By the time we got to the end of the main shopping strip my friends were beyond intoxicated. They all said they were glad they ventured out, and we didn't get shot or mugged!
Please ignore my ashy dry legs, apparently I have yet to discover lotion.
During formal night we took loads of serious shots, but the photo above was the winner as it reflected our trip with the most accuracy. I don't know how many of your trips include your male friend dressing up in a flowy dress, and reenacting a scene from Titanic with "My Heart Will Go On" in the background. My friends might not know Geography, but they sure do know how to have a great time....

This looks like so much fun! I've never been to Mexico and I imagine a cruise is the perfect way to see it all! xx
My favorite is the animal towels! I couldn't wait to see which one it would be each day.
They usually have classes on the ship to teach people how to make towel animals but they are usually so early in the morning. Sleep always wins. :)
I think a Mexican Cruise are great for people afraid to stay in hotels in Mexico.
