The Grand Canyon and the Colorado River
I had a friend from Australia visiting the U.S.A. for the first time, and we had conveniently planned a trip to Las Vegas for my birthday. She had expressed wanting to see the Grand Canyon, and I remember seeing helicopter tours from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon advertised online. I went on Viator and found a great package to see the canyon. We had a limo pick us up at our hotel, and then we took a 45 minute (each way) helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon (with a flight over the Hoover Dam on the way there). Once landing at the bottom of the Canyon we had a champagne lunch overlooking the Colorado River.

It was absolutely stunning, and not your everyday Grand Canyon experience. I think my favorite part of the trip was following the stream of the Colorado River via helicopter. I saw tourists at the top of the Canyon thinking how lucky I was to see it from this perspective. After lunch we headed back to Las Vegas airport, only after flying over the Las Vegas strip. When we got back on the ground we had our limo waiting for us to take us back to our hotel. :) Talk about a first class experience!

Talk about an awesome experience! I stopped by the grand canyon south rim a couple of years ago on a road trip back to California. Unfortunately I didn't get to stay long cause it started to storm like no other. But I definitely can't wait to go back and visit the North and West rims when i have more time.
Love the video! I was there in May 2009 and I have to say your trip to the bottom was much more glamorous than my hike. Also, crazy to finally see the new Hoover Dam bridge visited, it was suspended in mid-air when I was there. The Grand Canyon is still one of the most awe-inspiring sites I've ever seen.
I haven't it made it but I've only been out west once. Isn't it funny how we just don't go see things in our own backyard?
Pretty impressive!
I just mailed out my permit to hike to the bottom, and bought my backpacking tent today! I'm pretty excited to get to the bottom...how cool that you got there in a helicopter! I think hiking it will be rewarding enough for me, and my style is one that prefers the challenge, so even if I were to take a helicopter, I'd probaby still want to hike down!
Congrats on accomplishing this goal, and in such a cool way!
