Okay, we all pack our cameras, and obviously our clothes...but what else can you not live without while traveling?
Here are mine....
My Osprey Aether 85L Backpack- It's a beast when it comes to size, but with the straps I can easily compress and expand it. It's lightweight, and comfortable with a well fitting waist belt (which is key in weight distribution!).
Packing Cubes- No matter how small the trip I always have my packing cubes! They keep me organized, and it makes it quite easy to pack and repack in between cities. People make fun of me when they see them, but I am always the first one packed and ready to go in the morning (while they are stuffing their suitcases and finding things at the bottom of their bags).
My Netbook- It's not as fast as my Macbook Pro, but it is tiny, and now takes place of my travel journal. Luckily, it has several additional uses, like uploading videos and pictures, as well as logging onto the net when free wireless is around. Plus, with it's 160gb hard drive, it takes the place of having to buy and bring a gazillion memory cards!
iPod Touch- I NEVER travel without my iPod Touch. It has saved me several hours of boredom on long bus and plane rides. I always make a playlist specific to the trip, and so when I hear those songs when I get home from my trip it will always transport me to that country thousands of miles away. I usually upload some of my favorite movies and TV shows. I also upload pictures onto it in case I get a bit homesick. It's also another way to keep in touch with family as long as wiFi is around. Don't forget the games, AND you can download language translators depending on what countries you are visiting. There are also currency converters, and a ton of other useful travel apps.
Dr Bronner's Peppermint Soap- A new find. So versatile with many purposes! I can use it to do laundry, as a shampoo, toothpaste (I'm not daring enough to use it for that), body wash, and many other things. A small bottle goes a long way!
Kwik Tek Dry Pak Alligator Wallet- I LOVE this thing! It was great to have while in the Caribbean so that I never had to worry about someone taking my valuables from the beach. I just recently bought another one that can fit my passport (I have yet to test it out). Great for kayaking, canoe rides, or on heavily rainy days.
I will add more while I find more goodies as I pack for my trip!
