Heroe's Square (or Hosek tere in Hungarian) is a famous square in Budapest, Hungary that honors some of the greatest leaders of Hungarian history. It is one of the most visited attractions in Budapest.
It is located at the end of Andrassy Avenue which is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. The square is surrounded by other famous buildings like the Museum of Fine Art, and the Palace of Art.
Inside the Square is the Millennium Monument that includes statues of tribe leaders that founded Hungary in the 9th century. At the front of the Monument is a column that is dedicated "To the memory of the heroes who gave their lives for the freedom of our people and our national independence." The base of the column is surrounded by more statues of important figures in Hungarian history.
I visited the square during a gloomy day, in fact, it started pouring rain a few minutes after visiting the square. Because of the crummy weather, the square was practically vacant and free of any tourists. It's not the most exciting square, but definitely worth a peak if you are in the area.
