Go Apple Picking

"Do you want to go Apple Picking?"  my friend asked.  "Yes!" I squealed.  "I've never done it before!" 

So we hopped into a car filled with some of her friends from her Master's Program at Michigan State, and headed to Erwin Orchards Cider Mill.

We were given a plastic bag to fill with apples, and then took a tractor out into the apple fields.  

We stopped by several fields each dedicated to different apple varieties like McIntosh, Red Delicious, Gala, and several other varieties I had never even heard of.  There was bound to be an apple for almost anyones liking.  We had gone right at the end of the season so our apple choices were slim, and unfortunately most of the apples were already on the ground.

The best part of the visit was visiting the Orchards store and buying some fresh Pumpkin Cinnamon Sugar Donuts, and fresh apple cider.  We found a picnic table outside wrapped with an apple print tablecloth and scarfed down a donut (or two).  It was soooo good and a tasty treat after an afternoon of apple picking!
