The day I went up the Eiffel Tower was the same day I fell out of a bus, sprained my ankle, and then fainted in front of a group of strangers. Tragically embarrassing right? The medically sane thing to do would be to stay in the hotel room to rest my poor foot, but when would I ever have the opportunity to go up the Eiffel Tower again? Possibly never?! I popped a few Tylenol's into my system (since I experience adverse reactions with Motrin), had my best friend freshly ace-wrap my ankle, and got a new bag of ice to help decrease the swelling.

As we approached the Eiffel Tower I could see its little lights flickering in the distance. The lights were one of the primary reasons I wanted to go up at night! I love Christmas Trees, and to me, the Eiffel Tower at night resembled one giant Christmas Tree. As I
It took a few lifts to finally make it to the third platform, and as soon as I stepped onto the observation deck I was overwhelmed by what I saw. The lights, the Parisian architecture, and the feeling of being on the top of the world took over me. For a few minutes I imagined myself quitting my job, packing up my bags and moving to Paris.

I loved the Eiffel Tower so much that the following morning I got onto the metro and back to the Eiffel Tower. Note: The Eiffel Tower metro stop is still quite a walk away, or maybe it was just more noticeable for me since every step was a struggle? Champ de Mars (the green space in front of the Eiffel Tower) is also a fabulous place to just hang out, have a picnic, or just merely a place to enjoy the beauty that surrounds you.

Paris, one of these days, I will be back!

I really like this post. Thumbs up to you for making it to the top even with a limp!
That is amazing! You were making my stomach turn with that video, though! I am a little afraid of heights so I think I'd have to close my eyes on the way up. But it would be worth it for that view! I climbed the Duomo in Florence, but I was only able to because the climb was inside!
What a beautiful view! I can't wait to see the Eiffel Tower. Paris has been a dream of mine since I was a little lady! This post has inspired me to bump it up a few (dozen) notches on my priority list!! :-)
Kelly- France is beautiful....I am definitely going back to explore more of it.
Stefanie- I am afraid of heights as well, but it wasn't that bad. I felt pretty secure.
I Love your dedication!! I can't wait to re-visit Paris! I can't believe how many places you have been to it's incredible! xx
I've never actually had much interest in Paris or France but I would stop over one night just for the Eiffel Tower.
Your site is awesome! This is a great post. I've always wanted to visit Paris and see the Eiffel tower, but never thought to see it at night. I'm about to add it to my list RIGHT NOW. It's fun how there's inspiration around every corner, you just have to recognize it. I'm a fan :)
I love your video oh so much. And wow to be able to accomplish this even after all that had happened that day is seriously awesome!
I wish I could say that my Eiffel Tower experience was amazing. Okay, I'll admit, it was really cool to see it in person, but I went to Paris for New Years expecting to see fireworks at the Eiffel Tower. All we got was the glittering lights, no fireworks. Talk about a total letdown. We'd pretty much planned our trip around that moment, and Paris wasn't the same after such a huge disappointment. You start to pick out the bad when you're in a bad mood. That's no fun!
