Every year, the local yacht club invites my patients and the staff on my unit to ride on their yachts. My friend and I went, and since we were a smaller group and not a huge family, we were paired with one of the smaller yachts.
The couple we were paired with had never done the event before. They were glad they got staff members because they were afraid that some of the children may have hurt themselves on their boat since it doesn't have the safest rails.
Our captain was Stan, and we were joined with his wife and one of their friends.
We took an hour ride around the bay sailing by seals, and the beautiful San Diego skyline, and other boats that were part of the sailfest.
Our hostesses were so nice, and repeatedly thanked us for the incredible job we do for our patients. We in return thanked them tremendously for allowing complete strangers to ride on their yacht.
After the event we enjoyed a free lunch and hung out with our new, yacht-owning friends. :)
